The annual Great Adventures Green Island Ocean Swim is set to make a splash with competitors taking on the 1.5km and 3km swims, as well as a shorter 500m distance swim.
This unique Great Barrier Reef competition takes place on the leeward side of the island with each leg of the event offering a variety of conditions from shallows to wind chop and tidal flow. Water temperatures around this time of year average 24 degrees with air temperatures around 28 degrees.
The Great Adventures Green Island Swim is a community event and is supported by Surf Life Saving Queensland and the Cairns Crocs. To register your interest, please contact our central reservations department by phone or email.
Please note spectators are welcome, and can be registered to travel at a discounted rate. The Nippers swim is a great way for under 12s to get involved too, and has no registration fee.
The 500m, 1.5km and 3km swims are open to swimmers 12-years and over. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall for men and women in the 1.5km and 3km event. Prizes will also be presented to 500m swimmers. A nipper’s/beginner’s swim will take place on a course parallel to the beach. Registration is on the day and is free of charge.
